9. Interview Questions & Smart Answers

Memorize these carefully, but speak naturally during the interview.

Q1. Tell me about yourself.

Don't tell a long life story. Keep it short and crisp.

Answer: My name is (Your Name). I completed my 10th and 12th from (School Name). After that, I completed my [B.Pharma/Degree] from (College Name). I am a friendly person, and I really enjoy talking to people and helping them out.

Q2. Why do you want to join Apollo Pharmacy?

Answer: Apollo is a very big and trusted brand in India. If I work here, I will get to learn a lot, improve my skills, and meet new people daily. Also, it offers good job security and career growth. I would love to be a small part of such a great company.

Q3. What is the difference between Prescription and OTC medicines?

Answer: OTC (Over-The-Counter) medicines are basic medicines we can give customers without a doctor's prescription, like simple cold tablets. But strong medication or Schedule H drugs cannot be given without a valid doctor's prescription.

Q4. What will you do if a customer asks for a medicine that is out of stock?

Answer: First, I will search the system properly to see if we have any stock left. If we do, I will ask the customer to wait for a minute and provide it to them. If it is completely out of stock, I will suggest a good alternative with the exact same formula, but I will ask them to confirm with their doctor once.

Q5. Can you give a substitute for a prescription medicine without asking the doctor?

Answer: No, I will never go against a prescription. I will only give what the doctor has written. If I really have to give a substitute, I will politely request the patient to consult their doctor first so the doctor can write the substitute on the slip.

Q6. Name 5 antibiotics and 5 painkillers.

(Here, they check your ground knowledge).

Answer: Give the names of the medicines commonly sold in your local market. Try to mention the company that makes them, too. It shows you know your stuff!

Q7. What are Schedule H and Schedule H1 drugs?

Answer: These are strict medicines that we cannot give to any patient without a valid prescription from a registered doctor. Also, as a pharmacist, it is my duty to maintain a proper daily record of selling these medicines.

Q8. How will you handle an angry customer?

Answer: First, I will listen to their full problem very patiently without interrupting them. If I interrupt, they will get more angry. If the mistake is from my side or my store's side, I will apologize on behalf of the team and give them a 100% solution right away. Every customer is important to us.

Q9. Apollo is open 24x7. Are you ready to work in rotational or night shifts?

(Note: Female candidates are rarely asked to do night shifts. For boys, say yes!).

Answer: We work in the medical field. Medical emergencies can happen anytime, and patients might need medicines late at night. I understand this responsibility, so I have no problem working in rotational or night shifts.

10. Success Tips (Do's and Don'ts)

Do's (What to do): Don'ts (What NOT to do):
Keep your introduction short and sweet. Don't make your introduction boring by talking too much about your family (unless asked).
Carry your original documents along with photocopies.

Don't forget your documents at home.

 * Don't forget to revise basic pharmacy rules like Schedule H drugs.

Research new medicines in the market before going. Don't go late to the interview.
Say 'Yes' to rotational shifts—it increases your chances of getting hired. Don't avoid eye contact or get too nervous. Just smile and speak the truth.
Read up on the daily duties of the exact post you are applying for. Don't demand unrealistic salaries if you are a fresher.
