3. Age Limit For Each Role
The notice does not mention any age limit. For private jobs in India the minimum age is 18. Most showroom hiring is for people up to about 35, but managers can be older if they have experience.
4. Actual Floor Work & Daily Responsibilities
Daily Work for Sales:
You reach before the showroom opens, clean your counter and check that trays match the stock list. When customers come, you show necklaces, rings and chains, explain weight, purity and making charges, and help with trial. At the end of the day you return every piece to the locker and sign the stock sheet.
Daily Work for Floor Manager:
You assign counters to the sales staff and watch the floor for customers waiting. You solve disputes on price or exchange and report daily sales to the Store Manager.
Daily Work for Store Manager:
You open and close the showroom, check the stock count, handle security and cash reports, and push the team towards the monthly target.
Daily Work for Cashier:
You prepare bills, take payments by cash, card and UPI, and match the cash in the drawer with the day's sales. Wrong entries must be fixed the same day.
Daily Work for Customer Care:
You take calls, note appointments, update customers on repair or order status and pass complaints to the right person.
Real Work Environment (Who Should NOT Apply):
Do not apply if you cannot stand for 8-9 hours. Weekends, wedding season, Dhanteras and Akshaya Tritiya are very busy, and leave is hard to get then. Sales staff face targets. Even small stock mistakes can create big trouble because gold is costly.
5. Required Documents
The notice does not list documents. Carry these for a jewellery showroom job:
- Updated resume: 3 printed copies, one for each interviewer.
- Aadhaar and PAN: needed for identity and salary records.
- 10th, 12th and graduation marksheets: HR checks marks and name spelling.
- Experience or relieving letter: needed for manager and cashier posts.
- Passport-size photos: for the employee file.
- Bank passbook or cancelled cheque: for salary.
- Police verification: jewellery staff handle valuable items, so be ready to give it after selection.

7. Preparation For The Job
1. Practical Homework Before the Interview: Visit any jewellery showroom for 15 minutes. Watch how staff greet customers, how they show a piece, and how billing is done. Also learn the basics: 22K gold is about 91.6% pure, 24K is nearly pure, and the BIS hallmark mark on gold shows purity. Know that jewellery is sold by weight and that making charges are extra.
2. Handling the Practical Test/Trial: The manager may ask you to pretend to sell a ring, calculate a bill, or explain the difference between 22K and 18K. Cashiers may be asked to add a few bills quickly. Speak slowly, smile, and ask the customer's budget first. If you do not know an answer, say so and say you will learn.
3. 3 Specific Company Facts to Check:
- Senco started in 1938 and is based in Kolkata.
- Check the list of its showrooms near Rajarhat and in West Bengal.
- Read about its main collections and its Great Place To Work certification shown in the poster.
8. Warning Against Fake Back-Door Joining & Paid Gate-Pass Scams
Applying is 100% free. No real company sells jobs. In back-door joining, a middleman or fake "HR" promises a permanent post for cash. In a paid gate-pass scam, someone asks money for an entry pass or ID card. In jewellery hiring, watch for fake demands like "security deposit for stock handling", "uniform fee", "police verification fee" or "training charges". Be careful if the offer comes only on WhatsApp, if money is asked on a personal UPI number, or if the interview is at a hotel or roadside office. Go only to the showroom address from the official post.
9. Interview Questions and Answers (Based on Real Candidate Experiences)
Q1. Have you ever sold anything before?
Answer: Sir, I have not worked in a showroom. But I helped in my uncle's shop during Puja season. I talked to customers and handled their bills. I am ready to learn jewellery from your team.
Q2. Can you work on Saturday, Sunday and festivals?
Answer: Yes sir, I understand that is when showrooms are busiest. I will work on weekends. I would just like to know my weekly off day in advance.
Note: Say yes only if you really can. Be honest about family or study timings.
Q3. Can you stand for 8-9 hours?
Answer: Yes sir. In my last job I stood most of the day. I wear comfortable shoes and take small breaks when allowed.
Q4. A customer says the price is too high. What will you do?
Answer: Sir, I will not argue. I will explain how the price is made up of gold rate and making charges. Then I will show them a lighter design within their budget.
Q5. Gold is costly. What if a piece goes missing from your counter?
Answer: I will keep count of every piece when I take it out and put it back. If anything is missing, I will inform my manager immediately. I will not hide it.
Note: Honesty and carefulness matter most in jewellery jobs.
Q6. (Cashier) How will you check that the cash is correct at day end?
Answer: I will count the cash and match it with the system total for cash, card and UPI. If there is a difference, I will check the bills again and tell my manager.
Q7. (Customer Care) A customer is angry about late delivery. What will you do?
Answer: I will listen fully first and say sorry for the trouble. Then I will check the order status and give a clear date. If I cannot solve it, I will pass it to my senior.
Q8. Why do you want to work at Senco?
Answer: Sir, Senco is an old Kolkata brand and my family trusts it. I want to learn in a big, trusted company. The showroom is also near my home.
Q9. Is there any education or career gap?
Answer: Yes sir, I took one year off for family reasons. In that time I did a basic computer course. I am ready to work full time now.
Note: Tell the real reason. Do not make up stories, as HR may verify.
Q10. (Floor/Store Manager) How will you handle a team member who is always late?
Answer: I will talk to them privately first and find the reason. If it continues, I will give a warning and inform HR. I will also come on time myself. Also Check: Tata Croma Recruitment 2026: 12th pass freshers can apply for Sales Executive.
10. Understanding Your First Salary Slip: PF, ESI, Attendance Bonus & Deductions
Gross vs In-Hand: Gross salary is the total before cuts. In-hand salary is what reaches your bank after deductions. Example for a showroom salesperson: Gross ₹18,000 − PF ₹1,080 − ESI ₹135 − Professional Tax about ₹130 = In-hand about ₹16,655.
PF and ESI: PF (Provident Fund) is 12% of basic pay from your side. It is your retirement savings. ESI is 0.75% of gross pay and applies only when monthly gross is within the ESI limit. It gives medical, accident and maternity support.
Attendance Bonus and Overtime: Attendance bonus is often lost if you take extra leave or come late. Showrooms usually come under the Shops and Establishments rules, so ask the HR how extra hours are paid. The double overtime rate is a factory rule.
| Slip Line | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Basic | Main part of salary; PF is calculated on this |
| Incentive | Extra pay for meeting sales target |
| Professional Tax | Small state tax cut every month |
| Advance Recovery | Money taken earlier, cut back in parts |
| Uniform/Other | Cut only if clearly told in advance |
Tip: Always ask for your salary slip and check the working days count.
11. How to Make a Simple Bio-Data / Resume at a Local Cyber Cafe
Rule 1: Keep it to one A4 page in a plain font. Put sales or billing skills at the top.
Rule 2: Check your name, date of birth and marks against your marksheet before printing.
Rule 3: Save the file as PDF on your phone and carry 3 printed copies.
Weak line: "Hardworking and good at talking."
Strong line: "Handled 30+ customers daily at a family shop and prepared hand-written bills."
3 sample bullet points for a fresher:
- Managed the stall and cash counting at my college fest.
- Helped my family's cloth shop during Durga Puja and handled customers.
- Can speak Bengali, Hindi and basic English; completed a basic computer course.
Career Objective sample: "A 12th pass fresher looking for a Sales or Customer Care role at Senco Gold & Diamonds. I want to serve customers politely and learn jewellery sales."
